Discipleship: Healing, Renewing, Restoring

The world, our nation, and the church are still reeling from the effects of the most destructive pandemic in over a century. To add to the grief, sadness, and trauma of the pandemic, the bitter and divisive election season took a heavy toll on our nation. Today, we continue to be hopeful that we can gradually emerge from the gloom of the pandemic and the divisive partisan politics. While we have a long way to go, this is also the time that as a faith-community, we turn to God to find healing for our souls, renewal for our spirits, restore hope in our community.

It is in this spirit that I would like to invite you to a Morning of Prayer and Reflection to be held on September 11, 9 – 10:30am. We had earlier announced we would have our customary annual parish retreat. However, with the uncertainty surrounding Coronavirus and its variants, we feel the need to be cautious and limit the day to an hour-and-a-half of prayer and reflection. The theme of this event will be Discipleship: Healing, Renewing, Restoring.

The focus of this morning will be two-fold. First, we will spend a major portion of the day in prayer, seeking the renewal and healing that can only come from God. Second, Fr. Satish will offer a brief reflection on the writings of Pope Francis to discover how, in turn, we might be agents of renewal and healing in our hurting church and nation. This day also happens to be the anniversary of September 11.

May I please request that you mark this date on your calendar and come to the Morning of Prayer and Reflection. May I please request that you make this event a priority for you and the entire family.
