Feed the Homeless
On the last Wednesday of every month our parish community helps provide for the guests of the St. Vincent de Paul Hotels.
If you would like to help prepare a casserole you can sign up with Dona Carlson (937) 469-0121.
The casseroles are collected on the last Wednesday in the South parking lot at 10:00 AM and delivered to St. Vincent de Paul.
Recipe for Vincent de Paul Pasta Casserole
This casserole recipe will be used the entire year.
Ingredients:
1 -16 Ounce package Spaghetti or any other Pasta Noodles of choice
1 ½ to 2 pounds Ground Beef
Salt and Pepper and any other Spices you like.
1 ½ cups Sour Cream
2 cups shredded Mozzarella Cheese, divided.
½ cup Parmesan Cheese
2 - 26.5 Ounces Spaghetti Sauce or Marinara Sauce
Directions:
Add 1 tsp of salt to the boiling water and cook a little less than done. (This makes the noodles less soggy when baked). Drain the pasta but do not rinse.
While the pasta is cooking, add the ground beef to a large skillet. Add salt & pepper. Cook, breaking into small pieces until browned and cooked through, drain the grease, then return the ground beef to the skillet. Add the sauce and sour cream. Stir everything to combine. Add the noodles and 1 cup of the mozzarella cheese to the skillet, and mix.
Pour the casserole into the casserole pan. Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella and the parmesan cheese over the top. Cover the casserole with foil and freeze. DO NOT BAKE
Recipe Tips:
· You can use any sauce of choice.
· If using spaghetti break the noodles into quarters before cooking. (Breaking the noodles makes it easier to serve).
PLACE A NOTE ON THE CASSEROLE SAYING "PASTA CASSEROLE"
Bring the casserole to the Main church parking lot by 10:00 on the LAST Wednesday of the Month.
